View Full Version : Hate America?
For years ultra-militant liberals like Barbra Streisand have threatened to depart the US if a Republican is voted into office. They unfortunately never seem to make good on that threat. :)
It causes me to ponder where they'd go and why they stay.

France? Seems to be the popular destination for socialists.

BS is a moron. Not only is she American, she is Jewish American. The only people the French hate more than Americans are Jews.
Of course she is a celebrity and the French like any American who goes there pandering and trashing his/her own nation.
The only way Europeans can deal with their own jealousy against America is by telling themselves America sucks. They find peace of mind that way. You watch TV in Europe and it's so full of lies about the U.S., it makes you sick.
No, Kerrin, I don't think any country needs people like that. Anybody who has contructive criticism towards the government is needed, not people who trash it without having a clue on how to improve it.
Like most ultra libs, her threats are empty. She isn't going anywhere. You guys may also consider the possibility that she just puts up an act for publicity. I would like that to be the case actually. It's always very disappointing when you grow up and realize people you watched on TV as a kid are in reality nobody worth looking up to.
Anyways, if she decides to leave, people will be lining up to help her pack.

How does that differ from American TV? ;)

Hmm, true.
But the French have to learn some respect. If it wasn't for the U.S., they would all be speaking German. Germans and French are obsessed with trashing America. Regardless of who is in office btw. My opinion is, that if you feel the need to focus on another country like that, then something needs to be fixed in your own. Many Americans don't realize that there is simply no way to please someone who is jealous of you which I think most countries are of the U.S.
The only way to please a jealous person is to sink to their level.
People over there want to see America weak.
2 years ago I went to Europe for the first time since 1990 and what bugs me is American kids going there having to listen to all of that. Some Americans are proud enough to stand up for their country while others give in and feel ashamed and actually join in in that whole talk about how bad Americans are. What people in the U.S. need to understand is that anti American sentiments have little to do with Bush. France and Germany don't need a real reason to talk bad about the U.S. They talked bad about the U.S. when their boy Carter was in office, when Clinton was in office, it doesn't matter who it is. As long as America is powerful, America will be trashed ... period!
I am not making excuses for the U.S. when the U.S. is doing wrong, but please tell me which country in Europe has ever gone out of its way to really help other nations when they needed help?
America does more for the world than any other country, but that is taken for granted. Every country in Europe looks out for it's own people first, but when America does it, it's considered a crime.
Anyways, all of those who don't like living in the U.S. should leave and leave their passport. I can guarantee you that a couple of years later, most of them will be begging to get back.
People like Michael Moore actually care enough to try to fix what they consider broken. They actually believe in what they do and want to help the country. If you have a problem with your government, then you should try to fix what you think is wrong. Talking crap and threatening to leave like Matt Damon and BS are doing, what genius move is that?
I can guarantee you had those people grown up listening to as much anti American crap as I had, they would love to have in office whoever is proud of his nation.
Americans should not apologize for being American. Ever.
I am not defending GW Bush, I am happy to see him leave.
But using him to discredit a great candidate like John McCain or any other good republican is wrong.
We don't need someone who will suck up to Europe and cause American kids to feel bad about their nationality.
The media already does an awesome job demonizing white America. IMO whatever you hear coming from people who won't take the time to make things better should not be paid attention to.
This includes so many celebrities.
They have the power to help in so many ways. Donate their time to set examples, make improvements, but it's a lot easier to lean back and trash Sarah Palin.
My point is, that if you believe your country needs help, help it. I think that the international community needs to set a better example within the U.N.
And America should focus on its own and let Europe help a few countries for a change.
When I see France or Germany doing something great, I will pay attention.
If sitting back and smearing is your style, then you are not worth paying attention to, even though Good Will Hunting was a good movie.

We need BS to spout her 'bs' to remind us of how absurd the "ultra-militant liberals" are. Plus if they all disappeared we'd lose valuable entertainment.
In the court of public opinions I think it's helpful to hear the idiots along with the intelligent. Creates a stark contrast, reminds us of what opinions are valuable and those that are not. Basically I'm a fan of pluralism in the public square.
