Ultimate pleasure if you are male. Ultimate torture and sorrow if you are female.

Ultimate pleasure if you are male. Ultimate torture and sorrow if you are female.
Yeah, a lot of people in Europe will say "it's just how they are, let them be" but since when do people of different backgrounds have different emotions when it comes to needs and rights? The Quaran is full of violent passages and Christians and Jews are again and again mentioned as is the need to tax them more, digg them out from underneath the rocks they are hiding under, the constant mentioning that the world shall be conquered by the sward.
Islam is not a religion of peace. I get the standard response "Well, the Bible is full of violence as well", but that is the old testament, not what Jesus preached.
A religion which encourages human rights violations will only give peace to those on the top of their food chain while oppressing the masses.
Whatever bad happened in this war, you cannot forget that Saddam was an evil dictator as are a lot of Muslim leaders and that the upbringing under Islam uses religious fear to help those people come to power.
Everyone wants to be politically correct and nobody wants to say it like it is, but Islam is definitely a religion which encourages evil.
In no way are Muslims generally speaking evil. Most just go with the flow, because they have no choice. But many become tools and wind up doing evil because of the religion.
Off topic, but I should very much like to alter the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty to read something along the lines of "Sure, bring your food, but please dump your social/cultural hangups overboard right now, as we do not have time for them."
If the world were to simply adhere to that, we'd be roughly where we need to be. Oh, and the world's major religions would largely dissolve on the spot.
mmm, Utopia.

it's hardly a solution to suggest people dropping their beliefs. That would be mindcontrol. Communist style. Religious freedom is very precious. You can worship the exhaust pipe of your car for all I care, but when a religion encourages violence, it needs to be exposed and people have to be educated.
Bashing religion all together is bogus.
You're right, I over-generalized. I meant to suggest that overzealous religious views (read: views held by those that wish to impose them upon others, either by the view-holders or the nature of the views themselves) have no place in a free society. After all, the freedoms we currently enjoy in this country are actually "the freedom to offend" as opposed to "the freedom from offense."

I'm down with offending if needed. Actually, no, I don't believe in ramming my beliefs down anybody's throat, just state my beliefs and let those who are open hear more if they want.
Unfortunately this is a double edged sward encouraging just about any belief to rise and enjoy the exact same freedom.
The issue that I have is with so much political correctness, people are not afraid to bash Christianity (hey, Christians are in power, they can take it), but scared to death to point out parts in the Quaran blatently encouraging acts against Christians and Jews.
I believe in shining light where there is darkness.
I cannot decide for anyone what to believe.
If you choose to follow Islam not knowing what it's really about, then we as a society have failed to provide unbiased education.
If you follow after knowing more, then more power to you, as long as you respect the law of the land and accept consequences in case you decide to place your belief so far above anything else that you cause harm or discomfort to your fellow citizens.

Of course Islam is a religion of peace!!!

That is the application of the Muslim principle of 'Taqiyya' which basically means a Muslim can lie to you about their faith any time and any way they want. Lieing is sanctioned in the Koran for several reasons. Wartime, between husband/wife, and when dealing with 'infidels', to prevent shame from coming to Islam, etc.
An article on the subject written by ex-muslims: http://islam-watch.org/Warner/Taqiyya-Islamic-Principle-Lying-for-Allah.htm
An excerpt: The word "Taqiyya" literally means: "Concealing, precaution, guarding.” It is employed in disguising one's beliefs, intentions, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions or strategies. In practical terms it is manifested as dissimulation, lying, deceiving, vexing and confounding with the intention of deflecting attention, foiling or pre-emptive blocking. It is currently employed in fending off and neutralising any criticism of Islam or Muslims.
"Falsehoods told to prevent the denigration of Islam, to protect oneself, or to promote the cause of Islam are sanctioned in the Qur'an and Sunna, including lying under oath in testimony before a court, deceiving by making distorted statements to the media such as the claim that Islam is a “religion of peace”.
I think even if we found someone willing to claim Islam is a religion of peace that we may find the application of this principle rather evident quickly enough. Islam is, on its face, a religion of violence. It was founded and spread by violence. The biography of Muhammad is full of violence. Conversion by the sword is happening still in modern times. Quick google search has muslims killing christians by the score. Even in Kenya, where Obama's Odinga is doin it :P

The teachings are all about Muhammed's issue and him preaching his confusion. He also hated women and had a thing for girls under 10.
You get educated about the guy, you realize he was sick. He poisoned Billions with his sickness.
